So you’ve always wanted to make a robot, or a gadget, or some interactive art weirdness, but electronics and programming make you freak out. Spazzz no more! The OCD disintelligencia will teach you the basics of the Arduino microcontroller. The Arduino is like a wee robot brain that can sense things and make things happen. It is relatively inexpensive, easy to use, and fits in your armpit for easy transport. We’ll go over the Arduino itself as well discuss the basics of analog and digital electronics, inputs/outputs, programming, etc and then convince it to do simple fun stuff like blink lights and write messages. Hell, we might just do more of these workshops if folks are feelin’ the Robolove.
You’ll need to bring a laptop. If you simply cannot get ahold of one, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

I am really interested in this workshop, however the timing is bad me. I hope you’ll be hosting more. Please contact me if you schedule another.
Hi Vic,
We just set up a subscription tool for our mailing list — sign up there! (it’s in the right hand column, labeled “Spam Me!”)
Also, subscribe to the blog’s rss feed and follow our twitter too.

We are definitely two groups that should know each other. I am a professor of architecture at Lawrence Tech. and as of this year, I established makeLab, a digital fabrication lab in the college of architecture. See my blog http://www.makelab.wordpress.com to check out some of the student projects. My research assistants and I have been discussing using Arduino to control architectural elements via the grasshopper plugin for Rhino. We can’t make the Thursday workshop due to final reviews but will more than likely be attending others soon. Hopefully we will cross paths soon.
