Case of Bass

Have a suitcase and/or briefcase and like sound? Interested in making things? Come out to OmniCorpDetroit for our Case of Bass class and make your suitcase into a boombox! Speaker kits are available for $60 and include everything you need for your own case (ie suitcase not included)
This is a two day class!!! Dates are August 11th and August 18th. Please note that the class is $20 if you buy a kit OR have your own amp, speakers, batteries.

Also please note that this class DOES NOT include the case. You must bring your own case!

Maker Faire Party!

OCD is having a Maker Faire pre-party on Friday July 29th at 9pm with amazing DJs, bike polo and general all around good times!! This will be followed by a party at our friend i3 Detroit on Saturday July 30th at 9pm!! This will truly be a crazy weekend of making and parting… WE CAN’T WAIT!!!

Code for America is coming to Detroit!!!

Next Thursday, July 21st at 7:00pm, come to OmniCorp at 1501 Division St Detroit to learn about what Code for America and the City of Detroit are planning on making happen next year — how we’re trying to leverage technology to boost the city’s economy and long-term growth — and how you can be a part of it by applying to be a Code for America fellow.

CINEMA BBQ V: FASTER PUSSYCAT, KILL KILL & DETROIT 9000

AT LONG LAST,  The Burton Theatre IN EXILE presents it’s summer program,  including CINEMA BARBEQUES V, VI, & VII hosted by OMNICORPDETROIT in Eastern Market!

Three go-go watusi dancers set out in a racing sports car for a few days of adventure, violence, and seduction. Leading the pack is Varla, a karate expert whose lesbian lover, Rosie, is little more than an obedient slave. Violence turns to murder as the pack sets out to find a family’s hidden treasure.

Shot on location in downtown Detroit and close-in neighborhoods, Detroit 9000 is the story of street-smart white detective Danny Bassett (Alex Rocco) who teams with educated black detective Sgt. Jesse Williams (Hari Rhodes) to investigate a theft of $400,000 at a fund-raiser for Representative Aubrey Hale Clayton (Rudy Challenger).

Open Hack Night!!

Calling all nerds, makers, hackers, designers, artists and iconoclasts! We are having open-hack night again this Thursday. Doors open at 8:00pm and we run till about 11:00pm. Bring your own project to hack on or play with one of our kits… either way, we would love to have you!

We are extra busy with crazy Maker Faire projects and the space is full of excitement! Come out and see the crazy stuff we are working on.

Detroit Battle of the Bits VII

OmniCorpDetroit and battleofthebits.org present:
Detroit Battle of the Bits VII
25 sounds 48 hours

Calling all Detroit music producers, beatmakers and DJs, the 7th annual Detroit battle of the bits re-mix competition is on! The battle consists of taking 25 sound samples and re-mixing them in anyway during a 48 hour time period. OmniCorpDetroit will host a playback party on Thursday, June 16th.

The re-mix battle has 3 stages:
1. Sound sample submission runs through Thursday June 2nd. Anyone can submit copyright free sounds to battle of the bits. The samples are then voted upon. The top 25 sounds become the sample pack.
2. Beginning Thursday June 2nd through Thursday June 9th, contestants can download the sample pack. Once downloaded the user has 48 hours to re-mix a track and upload it to
battleofthebits.org
3. Voting on the tracks takes place Friday June 10th through Thursday June 16th. The winners will be announced at a playback party at OmniCorpDetroit that night.

Detroit Battle of the Bits VII is free and open to all participants. Simply visit battleofthebits.org and register. Participation levels can vary. Anyone can submit sound samples and/or vote on submittedtracks without having to create a re-mix of their own.

The playback party will be held at OmniCorpDetroit in the Eastern Market on Thursday June 16th.There is a $5 suggested donation. 9pm-Midnight
